Ingredients

  • Firm tofu - 200 grams
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Maple syrup - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ground black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Cucumber - 1/2, sliced
  • Carrot - 1 medium, julienned
  • Radish - 1 small, julienned
  • Fresh cilantro - 1/4 cup, chopped
  • Vegan mayonnaise - 2 tablespoons
  • Baguette - 2 small
  • Vegetable oil - 1 tablespoon

Steps

  1. Press the tofu to remove excess moisture, then cut it into 1 cm thick slices.
  2. In a bowl, mix soy sauce, maple syrup, minced garlic, and black pepper to create a marinade. Add the tofu slices and let them marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  3. Preheat a grill pan over medium heat and add vegetable oil.
  4. Grill the marinated tofu slices for about 5-7 minutes on each side, until golden and slightly crispy.
  5. While the tofu is grilling, prepare the vegetables by slicing the cucumber and julienning the carrot and radish.
  6. Once the tofu is done, cut the baguettes in half lengthwise and spread vegan mayonnaise on each side.
  7. Layer the grilled tofu, cucumber, carrot, radish, and cilantro inside the baguette.
  8. Serve immediately and enjoy your Bánh Mì Chay Nướng!
