Ingredients

  • Vietnamese baguette - 2 pieces
  • Chả lụa (Vietnamese pork sausage) - 150 grams, thinly sliced
  • Cucumber - 1 small, thinly sliced
  • Carrot - 50 grams, julienned
  • Daikon radish - 50 grams, julienned
  • Fresh cilantro - 20 grams
  • Fresh mint - 10 grams
  • Pickled vegetables (carrot and daikon) - 50 grams
  • Mayonnaise - 2 tablespoons
  • Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Lime juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Chili sauce (optional) - to taste

Steps

  1. Begin by preparing the pickled vegetables. In a bowl, combine the julienned carrot and daikon with 1 tablespoon of lime juice, 1 tablespoon of sugar, and 1/2 cup of water. Let it sit for at least 20 minutes.
  2. While the vegetables are pickling, slice the Vietnamese baguettes open lengthwise without cutting all the way through.
  3. Spread 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise inside each baguette.
  4. Layer the sliced chả lụa evenly inside the baguettes.
  5. Add the sliced cucumber, pickled vegetables, fresh cilantro, and mint on top of the sausage.
  6. Drizzle with soy sauce and add chili sauce if you like some heat.
  7. Close the baguettes and serve immediately for the best texture.
