Ingredients
- French baguette - 1 medium (about 250g)
- Ground pork - 200g
- Shallots - 2 medium, finely chopped
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Fish sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Sugar - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Carrot - 1 medium, julienned
- Cucumber - 1/2 medium, sliced
- Fresh cilantro - a handful, chopped
- Mint leaves - a handful, chopped
- Mayonnaise - 2 tablespoons
- Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Lime - 1, juiced
- Chili sauce - to taste (optional)
Steps
- In a bowl, combine ground pork, shallots, garlic, fish sauce, sugar, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are incorporated.
- Form the mixture into small patties, about 5 cm in diameter.
- Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add a little oil. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through.
- While the patties are cooking, prepare the vegetables: julienne the carrot, slice the cucumber, and chop the cilantro and mint leaves.
- Once the patties are done, slice the baguette in half lengthwise without cutting all the way through. Spread mayonnaise on both sides.
- Layer the cooked pork patties inside the baguette, followed by the carrot, cucumber, cilantro, and mint.
- Drizzle with lime juice and soy sauce, and add chili sauce if desired.
- Close the baguette and cut it into two portions. Serve immediately.
