- Pork shoulder - 200 grams
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Shallots - 1 small, finely chopped
- Fish sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Sugar - 1 teaspoon
- Egg - 1, beaten
- Fresh baguette - 2 pieces
- Cucumber - 1/2, sliced
- Carrot - 1 small, julienned
- Daikon radish - 1/4, julienned
- Cilantro - a handful, chopped
- Mayonnaise - 2 tablespoons
- Chili sauce - to taste
- Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine the ground pork, minced garlic, chopped shallots, fish sauce, black pepper, sugar, and beaten egg. Mix until well combined.
- Shape the mixture into two patties and refrigerate for 15 minutes to firm up.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook the patties for about 5-6 minutes on each side, until golden brown and cooked through.
- Meanwhile, prepare the pickled vegetables by mixing the julienned carrot and daikon radish in a bowl with 1 tablespoon of soy sauce and set aside.
- Slice the baguettes open and spread mayonnaise on both sides.
- Place the cooked pork patties inside the baguettes, then layer with cucumber slices, pickled carrots and daikon, and fresh cilantro.
- Drizzle with chili sauce, close the baguette, and serve immediately.
