Ingredients

  • White fish fillets (such as tilapia or cod) - 200 grams
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Lime juice - 2 tablespoons
  • Fish sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Brown sugar - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Red chili flakes - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Baguette - 2 pieces
  • Cucumber - 1/2, thinly sliced
  • Carrot - 1/2, julienned
  • Fresh cilantro - 1/4 cup, chopped
  • Fresh mint - 1/4 cup, chopped
  • Mayonnaise - 2 tablespoons
  • Sriracha sauce - 1 tablespoon (optional)

Steps

  1. In a bowl, combine minced garlic, lime juice, fish sauce, brown sugar, black pepper, and red chili flakes to create a marinade.
  2. Add the fish fillets to the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Let them marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  3. Preheat the grill or a grill pan over medium-high heat. Grill the marinated fish for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until cooked through and slightly charred.
  4. While the fish is cooking, prepare the baguettes by slicing them open lengthwise but not all the way through.
  5. Spread mayonnaise inside each baguette and add a layer of cucumber slices, followed by julienned carrots.
  6. Once the fish is done, place a fillet in each baguette on top of the vegetables.
  7. Top with fresh cilantro and mint, and drizzle with Sriracha sauce if desired.
  8. Serve immediately while the fish is warm and the baguettes are crispy.
