- French baguette - 2 pieces
- Ground beef - 200 grams
- Breadcrumbs - 30 grams
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Fish sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Sugar - 1 teaspoon
- Cilantro - 20 grams, chopped
- Green onions - 20 grams, sliced
- Lettuce - 2 leaves
- Cucumber - 1/2, thinly sliced
- Carrot - 1/2, julienned
- Daikon radish - 1/2, julienned
- Vinegar - 2 tablespoons
- Chili sauce - to taste
- Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, minced garlic, fish sauce, black pepper, sugar, cilantro, and green onions. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
- Form the mixture into small meatballs, about 2-3 cm in diameter.
- In a skillet over medium heat, add a little oil and cook the meatballs for about 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally until they are browned and cooked through.
- While the meatballs are cooking, prepare the pickled vegetables. In a bowl, mix the julienned carrot and daikon radish with vinegar and let sit for about 10 minutes.
- Slice the baguettes open lengthwise, leaving one side hinged. Lightly toast them if desired.
- Spread a thin layer of soy sauce on the inside of each baguette, then add a layer of lettuce, followed by the cooked meatballs.
- Top with the pickled vegetables, cucumber slices, and drizzle with chili sauce to taste.
- Close the baguette and serve immediately, garnished with additional cilantro if desired.
