Ingredients
- Baguette - 2 pieces
- Firm tofu - 200 grams
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Fresh ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
- Carrot - 1 medium, julienned
- Cucumber - 1 medium, thinly sliced
- Fresh cilantro - 1/2 cup, chopped
- Sliced jalapeño - 1, to taste
- Lime juice - 1 tablespoon
- Salt - to taste
- Black pepper - to taste
Steps
- Press the tofu for 15 minutes to remove excess water, then cut into 2 equal patties.
- In a bowl, mix soy sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, salt, and black pepper. Marinate the tofu patties in this mixture for at least 10 minutes.
- Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat, add a little oil, and cook the marinated tofu patties for about 5 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
- While the tofu is cooking, prepare the vegetables by julienning the carrot, slicing the cucumber, and chopping the cilantro.
- Once the tofu is cooked, cut the baguettes in half lengthwise without cutting all the way through. Lightly toast them in the skillet for a minute if desired.
- Assemble the Bánh Mì Bầu by placing a tofu patty in each baguette, adding the julienned carrot, cucumber slices, cilantro, and jalapeño to taste. Drizzle with lime juice.
- Serve immediately and enjoy your delicious dairy-free Vietnamese burger!
