Ingredients

  • Beef sirloin - 200 grams
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Fish sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Lime juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Brown erythritol or sweetener - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Cucumber - 1/2, thinly sliced
  • Fresh cilantro - 1/4 cup, chopped
  • Fresh mint - 1/4 cup, chopped
  • Jalapeño - 1/2, thinly sliced (optional)
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon for grilling
  • Lettuce leaves - 4 large, to serve

Steps

  1. In a bowl, combine minced garlic, fish sauce, soy sauce, lime juice, erythritol, and black pepper to create a marinade.
  2. Slice the beef sirloin into thin strips and add it to the marinade. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  3. Heat olive oil in a grill pan over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the marinated beef strips and grill for about 3-4 minutes on each side until cooked through.
  4. While the beef is grilling, prepare the fresh toppings by slicing cucumber, chopping cilantro and mint, and slicing jalapeño if using.
  5. To serve, take a large lettuce leaf, add a portion of grilled beef, top with cucumber, cilantro, mint, and jalapeño slices.
  6. Roll the lettuce leaf around the filling to create a wrap and enjoy your low-carb Bánh Mì Bò Nướng!
