  • Fish sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 tablespoon, grated
  • Onion - 1 medium, sliced
  • Carrot - 1 medium, sliced
  • Daikon radish - 100 grams, sliced
  • Star anise - 2 pieces
  • Cinnamon stick - 1 piece
  • Black pepper - 1 teaspoon
  • Fresh cilantro - for garnish
  • Lime - 1, cut into wedges
  • Salt - to taste
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon

Steps

  1. In a medium pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onion and sauté until translucent.
  2. Add the minced garlic and grated ginger, cooking for another minute until fragrant.
  3. Incorporate the beef cubes into the pot, browning them on all sides.
  4. Pour in the beef broth, coconut aminos, fish sauce, star anise, cinnamon stick, and black pepper. Stir well.
  5. Add the sliced carrot and daikon radish to the pot. Bring the mixture to a boil.
  6. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and let it simmer for about 45 minutes, or until the beef is tender.
  7. Season with salt to taste and remove from heat.
  8. Serve the stew hot, garnished with fresh cilantro and lime wedges on the side.
