- Onion - 1 medium, sliced
- Carrot - 1 medium, sliced
- Daikon radish - 100 grams, sliced
- Star anise - 2 pieces
- Cinnamon stick - 1 piece
- Black pepper - 1 teaspoon
- Fresh cilantro - for garnish
- Lime - 1, cut into wedges
- Salt - to taste
- Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
Steps
- In a medium pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onion and sauté until translucent.
- Add the minced garlic and grated ginger, cooking for another minute until fragrant.
- Incorporate the beef cubes into the pot, browning them on all sides.
- Pour in the beef broth, coconut aminos, fish sauce, star anise, cinnamon stick, and black pepper. Stir well.
- Add the sliced carrot and daikon radish to the pot. Bring the mixture to a boil.
- Reduce the heat to low, cover, and let it simmer for about 45 minutes, or until the beef is tender.
- Season with salt to taste and remove from heat.
- Serve the stew hot, garnished with fresh cilantro and lime wedges on the side.
