Ingredients
- Beef sirloin - 200 grams
- Baguette (whole grain) - 2 pieces
- Lettuce leaves - 4 leaves
- Cucumber - 1 medium, sliced
- Carrot - 1 medium, julienned
- Red bell pepper - 1/2, thinly sliced
- Fresh cilantro - 1/4 cup, chopped
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
- Lime juice - 1 tablespoon
- Sriracha sauce - to taste
Steps
- In a bowl, mix the soy sauce, minced garlic, black pepper, and lime juice. Add the beef sirloin, coating it well, and let it marinate for at least 10 minutes.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until desired doneness is reached. Remove from heat and let it rest for a few minutes.
- While the beef is resting, slice the baguettes in half lengthwise without cutting all the way through. Lightly toast them in the skillet for about 1-2 minutes until golden.
- Assemble the bánh mì by placing lettuce leaves on the bottom half of each baguette. Top with sliced cucumber, julienned carrot, and red bell pepper.
- Slice the cooked beef into thin strips and layer it on top of the vegetables. Add fresh cilantro and drizzle with Sriracha sauce to taste.
- Close the baguette and serve immediately, enjoying the burst of flavors.
