- Minced beef - 250 grams
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Shallots - 1 small, finely chopped
- Fish sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Carrot - 1 small, julienned
- Cucumber - 1/2, thinly sliced
- Fresh cilantro - 1/4 cup, chopped
- Fresh mint - 1/4 cup, chopped
- Chili pepper - 1 small, sliced (optional)
- Baguette - 2 small
- Mayonnaise - 2 tablespoons (optional)
- Lime - 1, cut into wedges
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine the minced beef, garlic, shallots, fish sauce, soy sauce, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly combined.
- Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Add the beef mixture and cook for about 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the beef is fully cooked and browned.
- While the beef is cooking, prepare the vegetables. Julienne the carrot, slice the cucumber, and chop the cilantro and mint.
- Once the beef is cooked, remove it from the heat and set aside.
- Slice the baguettes in half lengthwise and lightly toast them in the skillet for about 1-2 minutes until crispy.
- Spread mayonnaise (if using) on the inside of each baguette half.
- Fill each baguette with the cooked minced beef, followed by the julienned carrot, cucumber slices, and fresh herbs.
- Top with sliced chili pepper if desired, and serve with lime wedges on the side.
