- Sugar - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Vegetable oil - 1 tablespoon
- Fresh cilantro - a handful
- Lime wedges - 2 (for serving)
Steps
- In a bowl, mix the thinly sliced beef with soy sauce, minced garlic, sugar, and black pepper. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.
- Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the marinated beef and cook for about 5-7 minutes, until the beef is browned and cooked through. Remove from heat and set aside.
- Soak one rice paper wrapper in warm water for about 10 seconds until it becomes pliable. Lay it flat on a clean surface.
- Place a lettuce leaf in the center of the wrapper, followed by a small amount of cooked beef, julienned carrots, cucumbers, and fresh cilantro.
- Fold the sides of the rice paper over the filling and then roll it up tightly from the bottom to the top to form a wrap.
- Repeat the process with the remaining rice paper wrappers and filling ingredients.
- Serve the Bánh Mì Bò Bía with lime wedges on the side for squeezing over the wraps.
