Ingredients

  • Rice paper wrappers - 4 pieces
  • Beef (thinly sliced) - 200 grams
  • Carrot (julienned) - 50 grams
  • Cucumber (julienned) - 50 grams
  • Lettuce leaves - 4 large
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Garlic (minced) - 1 clove
  • Sugar - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Vegetable oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Fresh cilantro - a handful
  • Lime wedges - 2 (for serving)

Steps

  1. In a bowl, mix the thinly sliced beef with soy sauce, minced garlic, sugar, and black pepper. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the marinated beef and cook for about 5-7 minutes, until the beef is browned and cooked through. Remove from heat and set aside.
  3. Soak one rice paper wrapper in warm water for about 10 seconds until it becomes pliable. Lay it flat on a clean surface.
  4. Place a lettuce leaf in the center of the wrapper, followed by a small amount of cooked beef, julienned carrots, cucumbers, and fresh cilantro.
  5. Fold the sides of the rice paper over the filling and then roll it up tightly from the bottom to the top to form a wrap.
  6. Repeat the process with the remaining rice paper wrappers and filling ingredients.
  7. Serve the Bánh Mì Bò Bía with lime wedges on the side for squeezing over the wraps.
