Ingredients

  • Rice flour - 100 grams
  • Tapioca starch - 30 grams
  • Water - 300 ml
  • Ground beef (Halal) - 150 grams
  • Onion (finely chopped) - 50 grams
  • Garlic (minced) - 2 cloves
  • Fish sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Vegetable oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Shallots (sliced) - 30 grams
  • Fresh herbs (mint, coriander, and basil) - for garnish
  • Chili sauce - for serving

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine rice flour, tapioca starch, and water to create a smooth batter. Let it rest for 15 minutes.
  2. In a skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and minced garlic, sauté until fragrant and translucent.
  3. Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula. Stir in fish sauce, soy sauce, and black pepper. Cook until the beef is browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. In a separate pan, heat a little oil over medium heat. Pour in a ladle of the crepe batter, swirling to cover the base of the pan evenly. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the edges lift, then carefully flip and cook for another minute. Repeat until all batter is used, placing finished crepes on a plate.
  5. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). On each crepe, place a spoonful of the beef mixture and roll them up.
  6. Place the rolled crepes on a baking tray. Top with sliced shallots and bake for 10-15 minutes until golden and crispy.
  7. Serve warm, garnished with fresh herbs and a side of chili sauce for dipping.
