- Shiitake mushrooms - 50 grams, diced
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Shallots - 1 small, finely chopped
- Fish sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Black pepper - ½ teaspoon
- Cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Banana leaves - 2 large pieces (for wrapping)
- Cucumber - ½, sliced
- Carrot - 1 small, julienned
- Lime - 1, cut into wedges
- Chili sauce - for serving
Steps
- Soak the sticky rice in water for at least 4 hours or overnight. Drain and set aside.
- In a skillet, heat a little oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and shallots, sauté until fragrant.
- Add diced shiitake mushrooms and cook for another 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool.
- In a bowl, combine ground beef, cooked mushrooms, fish sauce, black pepper, and chopped cilantro. Mix well and form into two patties.
- Steam the soaked sticky rice for about 30 minutes until translucent and cooked through. Let cool slightly.
- Lay out a piece of banana leaf, place a layer of sticky rice on it, and press down to form a round base. Place a beef patty in the center and cover with more sticky rice. Fold the banana leaf over to form a burger shape.

- Unwrap the banana leaves and serve the burgers hot with fresh cucumber, carrot, lime wedges, and chili sauce on the side.
