Ingredients

  • Rice flour - 100 grams
  • Water - 500 ml
  • Pork belly - 150 grams, diced
  • Chicken breast - 100 grams, diced
  • Fish sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Shallots - 2, minced
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Black pepper - 1 teaspoon
  • Chili pepper - 1, sliced (optional)
  • Green onions - 2, chopped
  • Cilantro - a handful, chopped
  • Salt - to taste

Steps

  1. In a saucepan, mix rice flour with 500 ml of water and stir until smooth. Let it rest for 10 minutes.
  2. In a separate pan, sauté minced shallots and garlic until fragrant, then add diced pork belly and cook until browned.
  3. Add diced chicken breast to the pan with pork and cook until no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Season the meat mixture with fish sauce, black pepper, and salt to taste. Cook for another 3 minutes.
  5. Prepare a steamer with boiling water. Stir the rice flour mixture again and pour it into a lightly greased steaming dish.
  6. Cover and steam for about 15-20 minutes until the cake is set and firm.
  7. Once the rice cake is ready, cut it into squares and serve in bowls topped with the pork and chicken mixture.
  8. Garnish with chopped green onions, cilantro, and sliced chili pepper if desired.
