- Glutinous rice flour - 200 grams
- Water - 150 milliliters
- Ground pork - 100 grams
- Mushrooms (dried, rehydrated and diced) - 30 grams
- Green onions (chopped) - 2 tablespoons
- Fish sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Sugar - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Banana leaves (for wrapping) - 2 pieces
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine the glutinous rice flour and water to form a smooth dough.
- In a separate bowl, mix the ground pork, diced mushrooms, green onions, fish sauce, sugar, black pepper, sesame oil, and salt until well combined.
- Cut banana leaves into squares (about 15cm x 15cm) and lightly steam them to make them pliable.
- Take a small piece of dough and flatten it in your palm to create a disc shape.
- Place a spoonful of the pork filling in the center of the disc, then fold the dough over to encase the filling, and shape it into a ball.
- Wrap the ball in the banana leaf, folding the edges to secure it, then repeat for the remaining dough and filling.
- Place the wrapped bánh in a steamer and steam for about 20-25 minutes until cooked through.
- Remove from the steamer and let cool slightly before serving.
