- Coconut milk - 100ml
- Water - 300ml
- Sugar - 30g
- Salt - 1/4 tsp
- Sesame seeds - 1 tbsp (optional)
- Banana leaves or parchment paper - for wrapping
Steps
- Rinse the glutinous black rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then soak it in water for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- Drain the soaked rice and steam it in a steamer lined with banana leaves or parchment paper for about 30 minutes, until tender.
- In a small saucepan, combine the coconut milk, sugar, and salt. Heat gently while stirring until the sugar dissolves completely. Remove from heat.
- Once the rice is cooked, transfer it to a mixing bowl and pour half of the coconut milk mixture over the rice. Mix well to combine.
- Spoon the rice mixture into small bowls or molds, pressing down to pack it tightly. Let it cool for 10 minutes.
- Serve the rice desserts drizzled with the remaining coconut milk mixture and sprinkle with sesame seeds if using.
