- Rice flour - 100 grams
- Tapioca flour - 50 grams
- Water - 300 ml
- Turmeric powder - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Vegetable oil - 3 tablespoons
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Chives - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Vinegar - 1 tablespoon
- Chili sauce - 1 tablespoon (optional)
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine rice flour, tapioca flour, turmeric powder, salt, and water. Whisk until smooth and there are no lumps.
- Grease a steaming tray or shallow dish and pour the batter into it, spreading it evenly.
- Steam the batter over boiling water for about 15 minutes until set. Let it cool slightly before cutting into squares.
- In a non-stick skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the steamed rice cakes and fry until golden and crispy on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Remove the cakes from the skillet and sprinkle with minced garlic and chopped chives.
- In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, vinegar, and chili sauce for the dipping sauce.
- Serve the crispy Bánh Bột Chiên hot with the dipping sauce on the side.
