Ingredients

  • Rice flour - 100 grams
  • Tapioca flour - 50 grams
  • Water - 300 ml
  • Turmeric powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Vegetable oil - 3 tablespoons
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Chives - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Vinegar - 1 tablespoon
  • Chili sauce - 1 tablespoon (optional)

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine rice flour, tapioca flour, turmeric powder, salt, and water. Whisk until smooth and there are no lumps.
  2. Grease a steaming tray or shallow dish and pour the batter into it, spreading it evenly.
  3. Steam the batter over boiling water for about 15 minutes until set. Let it cool slightly before cutting into squares.
  4. In a non-stick skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the steamed rice cakes and fry until golden and crispy on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  5. Remove the cakes from the skillet and sprinkle with minced garlic and chopped chives.
  6. In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, vinegar, and chili sauce for the dipping sauce.
  7. Serve the crispy Bánh Bột Chiên hot with the dipping sauce on the side.
