Ingredients

  • Rice vermicelli - 200 grams
  • Firm tofu - 200 grams
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Maple syrup - 1 tablespoon
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ground black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Vegetable oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Carrot - 1 medium, julienned
  • Cucumber - 1 medium, julienned
  • Fresh mint leaves - 1/4 cup, chopped
  • Fresh cilantro - 1/4 cup, chopped
  • Lime - 1, cut into wedges
  • Chili sauce (optional) - to taste

Steps

  1. Start by cooking the rice vermicelli according to package instructions. Drain and rinse under cold water, then set aside.
  2. Press the firm tofu to remove excess moisture, then cut it into thick slices.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, maple syrup, sesame oil, minced garlic, and ground black pepper. Add the tofu slices and marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a non-stick pan over medium heat. Add the marinated tofu and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
  5. While the tofu is cooking, prepare the vegetables by julienning the carrot and cucumber.
  6. Once the tofu is ready, assemble the bowls by placing a portion of rice vermicelli at the bottom, topping it with grilled tofu, julienned carrot, cucumber, and a sprinkle of chopped mint and cilantro.
  7. Serve with lime wedges and chili sauce on the side for added flavor.
