Ingredients

  • Pork shoulder, minced - 250 grams
  • Garlic, minced - 2 cloves
  • Shallots, minced - 1 small
  • Fish sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free) - 1 tablespoon
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Brown erythritol sweetener - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Lettuce leaves (for wrapping) - 4 large leaves
  • Fresh cilantro - 20 grams
  • Fresh mint - 20 grams
  • Cucumber, sliced - 50 grams
  • Sliced jalapeños (optional) - to taste
  • Peanuts, crushed (optional) - 15 grams

Steps

  1. In a bowl, combine minced pork, garlic, shallots, fish sauce, soy sauce, lemon juice, erythritol, and black pepper. Mix well and let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  2. Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Form the marinated pork mixture into two patties.
  3. Cook the patties on the grill or skillet for about 5-7 minutes per side, or until they reach an internal temperature of 70°C (160°F).
  4. While the patties are cooking, prepare your serving plate with large lettuce leaves, sliced cucumber, cilantro, mint, and jalapeños.
  5. Once the patties are cooked, assemble the burgers by placing a patty on a lettuce leaf, topping with cucumber, cilantro, mint, and jalapeños. Sprinkle crushed peanuts on top if desired.
  6. Serve immediately with extra lime wedges on the side for squeezing over the burger.
