Ingredients

  • Pork shoulder - 200 grams
  • Rice vermicelli noodles - 150 grams
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Shallots - 1 small, minced
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Fish sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Brown sugar - 1 tablespoon
  • Lime juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Vegetable oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Cucumber - 1 small, julienned
  • Carrot - 1 small, julienned
  • Fresh mint leaves - 10 grams
  • Fresh cilantro - 10 grams
  • Crushed peanuts - 2 tablespoons
  • Chili sauce (optional) - to taste

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine minced garlic, shallots, soy sauce, fish sauce, brown sugar, lime juice, and vegetable oil to create a marinade.
  2. Cut the pork shoulder into thin strips and add it to the marinade. Mix well and allow it to marinate for at least 20 minutes.
  3. Meanwhile, cook the rice vermicelli noodles according to package instructions, then drain and rinse under cold water to prevent sticking.
  4. Heat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Grill the marinated pork for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until cooked through and slightly charred.
  5. To serve, place a portion of rice vermicelli noodles in a bowl, top with grilled pork, and garnish with julienned cucumber, carrot, fresh mint, cilantro, and crushed peanuts.
  6. Drizzle with additional lime juice and chili sauce if desired, then enjoy your healthy Bún Thịt Nướng!
