Ingredients
- Rice vermicelli noodles - 200 grams
- Halal pork (thinly sliced) - 200 grams
- Garlic (minced) - 2 cloves
- Shallots (sliced) - 1 medium
- Fish sauce - 3 tablespoons
- Lime juice - 2 tablespoons
- Sugar - 1 tablespoon
- Black pepper - 1 teaspoon
- Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
- Cucumber (sliced) - 1 small
- Carrot (julienned) - 1 medium
- Fresh mint leaves - 20 grams
- Fresh cilantro - 20 grams
- Chili (sliced, optional) - 1 small
Steps
- Prepare the rice vermicelli according to package instructions, usually soaking in hot water for 10-15 minutes until softened.
- In a bowl, mix the minced garlic, sliced shallots, fish sauce, lime juice, sugar, and black pepper to create a marinade.
- Add the sliced halal pork to the marinade, ensuring all pieces are well coated. Let it marinate for at least 10 minutes.
- Heat vegetable oil in a grill pan over medium-high heat. Add the marinated pork and grill for about 3-4 minutes on each side until cooked through and slightly charred.
- While the pork is grilling, prepare the fresh herbs and vegetables: slice cucumber, julienne carrot, and set aside mint and cilantro.
- Once the pork is done, remove it from the grill and let it rest for a couple of minutes before slicing into bite-sized pieces.
- To serve, divide the softened rice vermicelli into two bowls, top with grilled pork, cucumber, carrot, fresh mint, and cilantro. Add sliced chili if desired.
- Drizzle additional fish sauce dressing over the top, mix well, and enjoy your Bún Sò!
