Ingredients

  • Beef sirloin - 300 grams
  • Lemongrass - 2 stalks, finely chopped
  • Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
  • Shallots - 2, finely chopped
  • Fish sauce - 3 tablespoons
  • Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Brown sugar - 1 tablespoon
  • Black pepper - 1 teaspoon
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Vegetable oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Fresh cilantro - 20 grams, for garnish
  • Lettuce leaves - 4, for serving
  • Rice noodles - 100 grams, cooked, for serving

Steps

  1. Slice the beef sirloin into thin strips, about 1/4 inch thick.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the chopped lemongrass, minced garlic, shallots, fish sauce, soy sauce, brown sugar, black pepper, sesame oil, and vegetable oil.
  3. Add the sliced beef to the marinade, ensuring all pieces are well coated. Cover and let it marinate for at least 20 minutes in the refrigerator.
  4. Preheat your grill or grill pan over medium-high heat.
  5. Once hot, grill the marinated beef strips for about 2-3 minutes on each side until nicely charred and cooked through.
  6. Remove from the grill and let the beef rest for a few minutes before serving.
  7. Serve the grilled beef alongside fresh lettuce leaves and cooked rice noodles. Garnish with fresh cilantro.
