Ingredients

  • Beef sirloin - 300 grams
  • Fermented tofu (chao) - 50 grams
  • Garlic, minced - 2 cloves
  • Fish sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Black pepper - 1 teaspoon
  • Lime juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Lettuce leaves - 4 leaves
  • Cucumber, sliced - 100 grams
  • Fresh cilantro - 20 grams
  • Fresh mint - 20 grams

Steps

  1. Slice the beef sirloin into thin strips and place them in a mixing bowl.
  2. In a separate bowl, mash the fermented tofu and mix it with minced garlic, fish sauce, soy sauce, black pepper, lime juice, and olive oil to create the marinade.
  3. Pour the marinade over the beef strips, ensuring they are well-coated. Marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  4. Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat.
  5. Thread the marinated beef onto skewers (if using) and grill for about 3-4 minutes per side, or until cooked to your desired doneness.
  6. While the beef is grilling, prepare the fresh herbs and vegetables by washing the lettuce leaves and slicing the cucumber.
  7. Once the beef is cooked, remove it from the grill and let it rest for a couple of minutes.
  8. Serve the grilled beef on a plate with lettuce leaves, cucumber slices, and fresh herbs on the side.
