Ingredients

  • Beef sirloin - 300 grams, thinly sliced
  • Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
  • Shallots - 2, finely chopped
  • Fish sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Brown sugar substitute (erythritol) - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1 teaspoon
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Lettuce leaves - 4 large
  • Fresh mint leaves - 20 grams
  • Fresh cilantro - 20 grams
  • Cucumber - 1 medium, julienned
  • Radishes - 2, thinly sliced
  • Rice paper wrappers - 4

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine thinly sliced beef, minced garlic, chopped shallots, fish sauce, soy sauce, brown sugar substitute, black pepper, and sesame oil. Mix well and marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  2. While the beef is marinating, prepare the vegetables by julienning the cucumber and slicing the radishes. Set aside.
  3. Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the marinated beef slices in a single layer. Grill for 2-3 minutes on each side until cooked through and slightly charred.
  4. While the beef is grilling, prepare a shallow dish of warm water to soften the rice paper wrappers. Dip one wrapper into the water for about 10 seconds until it becomes pliable.
  5. On the softened rice paper, place a lettuce leaf, a few mint and cilantro leaves, some cucumber and radish slices, and a few pieces of grilled beef. Roll the wrapper tightly, folding in the sides as you go to secure the filling.
  6. Repeat the rolling process with the remaining ingredients. Serve the wraps with additional fresh herbs on the side.
