Ingredients

  • Rice vermicelli - 150 grams
  • Squid, cleaned and sliced - 200 grams
  • Bell pepper, sliced - 1 medium
  • Carrot, julienned - 1 medium
  • Green onion, chopped - 2 stalks
  • Garlic, minced - 3 cloves
  • Soy sauce (Halal) - 2 tablespoons
  • Oyster sauce (Halal) - 1 tablespoon
  • Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Black pepper - 1 teaspoon
  • Fresh cilantro, chopped - 2 tablespoons
  • Lime wedges - for serving

Steps

  1. Soak the rice vermicelli in warm water for about 10 minutes, or until softened. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet or wok, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Add the sliced squid to the skillet and stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes until they turn opaque.
  4. Add the sliced bell pepper and julienned carrot to the skillet. Stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes until the vegetables are tender-crisp.
  5. Pour in the soy sauce and oyster sauce, and sprinkle with black pepper. Stir well to combine all ingredients.
  6. Add the cooked rice vermicelli and toss everything together for another 2 minutes until heated through.
  7. Remove from heat and stir in the chopped green onions and cilantro.
  8. Serve the Bún Mực Xào hot with lime wedges on the side.
