- Bún (Vietnamese rice vermicelli) - 200 grams
- White fish fillets (such as tilapia or cod) - 200 grams
- Garlic, minced - 2 cloves
- Lime juice - 2 tablespoons
- Fish sauce - 3 tablespoons
- Sugar - 1 teaspoon
- Fresh cilantro, chopped - 2 tablespoons
- Green onions, sliced - 2 tablespoons
- Cucumber, julienned - 1 small
- Carrot, julienned - 1 small
- Fresh chili, sliced (optional) - 1 small
- Vegetable oil - 1 tablespoon
- Salt - to taste
Steps
- Cook the bún according to the package instructions, then drain and rinse under cold water to stop the cooking process. Set aside.
- In a bowl, mix the minced garlic, lime juice, fish sauce, sugar, and a pinch of salt. Stir until the sugar is dissolved.
- Cut the fish fillets into bite-sized pieces and marinate them in half of the fish sauce mixture for about 10 minutes.
- In a pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the marinated fish pieces and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until the fish is cooked through and golden.
- To serve, place a portion of the cooked bún in each bowl. Top with cooked fish, julienned cucumber, carrot, and sliced green onions.
- Drizzle the remaining fish sauce mixture over the top and garnish with chopped cilantro and fresh chili if using.
