Ingredients

  • Brokoli - 300 grams
  • Extra virgin olive oil - 3 tablespoons
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Red pepper flakes - 1/4 teaspoon (optional)
  • Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped (for garnish)

Steps

  1. Wash the broccoli thoroughly and cut it into bite-sized florets.
  2. In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil and add the broccoli florets. Blanch for 2-3 minutes until bright green and tender-crisp.
  3. Drain the broccoli and immediately transfer it to a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process. Let it cool for a few minutes, then drain again.
  4. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant but not browned.
  5. Add the blanched broccoli to the skillet and toss well to coat with the garlic oil. Season with salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes if using.
  6. Drizzle the lemon juice over the broccoli and toss again to combine.
  7. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until heated through. Remove from heat.
  8. Transfer the broccoli to a serving plate and garnish with chopped fresh parsley. Serve warm.
