Ingredients

- Extra virgin olive oil - 3 tablespoons
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Red pepper flakes - 1/4 teaspoon (optional)
- Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped (for garnish)
Steps
- Wash the broccoli thoroughly and cut it into bite-sized florets.
- In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil and add the broccoli florets. Blanch for 2-3 minutes until bright green and tender-crisp.
- Drain the broccoli and immediately transfer it to a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process. Let it cool for a few minutes, then drain again.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant but not browned.
- Add the blanched broccoli to the skillet and toss well to coat with the garlic oil. Season with salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes if using.
- Drizzle the lemon juice over the broccoli and toss again to combine.
- Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until heated through. Remove from heat.
- Transfer the broccoli to a serving plate and garnish with chopped fresh parsley. Serve warm.
