Ingredients

  • Lamb shoulder - 300 grams, cut into thin slices
  • Pita bread - 2 pieces
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Onion - 1 small, finely chopped
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Tomato - 200 grams, diced
  • Tomato paste - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Cayenne pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Ground cumin - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Plain yogurt - 100 grams
  • Fresh parsley - for garnish, chopped

Steps

  1. In a pan, heat olive oil over medium heat and sauté the chopped onion until translucent.
  2. Add minced garlic and the sliced lamb to the pan, cooking until the lamb is browned on all sides.
  3. Stir in the diced tomatoes, tomato paste, salt, black pepper, cayenne pepper, and ground cumin; cook for about 15 minutes until the sauce thickens and the lamb is tender.
  4. While the lamb is cooking, prepare the pita bread by lightly toasting it in a separate pan or oven until warm.
  5. Once the lamb mixture is ready, place the toasted pita bread on serving plates and spoon the lamb and sauce over the top.
  6. Dollop yogurt on top of the lamb and garnish with chopped parsley before serving.
