Ingredients
- Yufka (Turkish flatbread) - 4 sheets
- Fresh spinach - 200 grams, chopped
- Feta cheese - 100 grams, crumbled
- Onion - 1 small, finely chopped
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
- Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon (optional)
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- In a skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat and sauté the chopped onion until translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Add the chopped spinach to the skillet and cook until wilted, about 3-4 minutes. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the sautéed spinach and onion with crumbled feta cheese, black pepper, and salt. Mix well.
- Lay one sheet of yufka on a clean surface and brush it lightly with olive oil. Place another sheet on top and brush again.
- Spoon some of the spinach and feta mixture along one edge of the yufka and roll it up tightly. Shape it into a spiral or coil and place it on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Repeat with the remaining yufka sheets and filling mixture.
- Brush the tops of the rolled börek with a little more olive oil and sprinkle sesame seeds on top if desired.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving.
