Ingredients

  • Rice - 50 grams
  • Water - 500 ml
  • Milk - 500 ml
  • Sugar - 100 grams
  • Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
  • Cornstarch - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt - a pinch
  • Ground cinnamon - for garnish

Steps

  1. Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then drain.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed rice and water. Bring to a boil over medium heat, then reduce to low and simmer for about 15 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the water is absorbed.
  3. Add the milk, sugar, and a pinch of salt to the cooked rice. Stir well and bring to a gentle simmer over low heat, stirring frequently to prevent sticking.
  4. In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch with a few tablespoons of cold water to form a slurry. Add this to the rice mixture, stirring continuously until the pudding thickens, about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Remove the saucepan from heat, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  6. Divide the pudding into two serving bowls and let it cool slightly. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving.
  7. Before serving, sprinkle a little ground cinnamon on top for garnish.
