Ingredients
- All-purpose flour - 250 grams
- Salt - 5 grams
- Water - 100 ml
- Olive oil - 30 ml
- Feta cheese - 100 grams, crumbled
- Fresh parsley - 10 grams, finely chopped
- Black pepper - 2 grams
- Egg - 1, beaten (for egg wash)
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. Slowly add the water and olive oil, and knead until a smooth dough forms. Cover with a damp cloth and let it rest for 15 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, mix the crumbled feta cheese, chopped parsley, and black pepper until well combined.
- Divide the dough into two equal portions. Roll each portion into a thin circle on a floured surface.
- Spread half of the feta mixture onto one half of each dough circle, leaving a border around the edges.
- Fold the other half of the dough over the filling and press down the edges to seal. You can crimp the edges for a decorative touch.
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Place the çörek on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Brush the tops with the beaten egg for a golden finish.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly before serving.
