- Sugar - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Black cumin seeds (çörek otu) - 2 teaspoons
Steps
- In a small bowl, dissolve the sugar and yeast in warm water and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt, then add the black cumin seeds.
- Make a well in the center of the flour mixture and pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil.
- Mix until the dough comes together, then knead on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes, or until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 220°C (428°F).
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down and shape it into a round loaf or divide it into two smaller loaves.
- Place the shaped dough on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
- Optional: Brush the top with a little olive oil and sprinkle additional black cumin seeds on top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
