Ingredients

  • All-purpose flour - 200 grams
  • Warm water - 100 ml
  • Active dry yeast - 7 grams
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Brown sugar - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Ground cumin - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Fresh parsley, chopped - 2 tablespoons
  • Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon

Steps

  1. In a small bowl, combine warm water, brown sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, salt, and ground cumin. Make a well in the center.
  3. Add the frothy yeast mixture and olive oil to the well in the flour. Mix until a dough begins to form.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes or until doubled in size.
  6. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
  7. Once the dough has risen, punch it down and knead in the chopped parsley and black pepper.
  8. Shape the dough into a round loaf and place it on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  9. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top and let it rise for an additional 10-15 minutes.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
