- All-purpose flour - 250 grams
- Warm water - 150 ml
- Yeast - 7 grams
- Sugar - 5 grams
- Salt - 5 grams
- Olive oil - 15 ml
- Minced beef or lamb - 200 grams
- Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Tomato - 1 medium, finely chopped
- Red bell pepper - 1 small, finely chopped
- Parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Cumin - 1 teaspoon
- Paprika - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Egg - 1, beaten (for egg wash)
Steps
- In a bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil, and knead until a smooth dough forms. Cover and let rise for 30 minutes.
- In a skillet over medium heat, sauté the onion and garlic until translucent. Add minced meat and cook until browned.
- Stir in chopped tomato, red bell pepper, cumin, paprika, black pepper, and parsley. Cook for another 5 minutes until the vegetables are soft. Set aside to cool.
- Preheat the oven to 220°C (428°F).
- Divide the dough into two equal portions. Roll each portion into an oval shape on a floured surface.
- Place the rolled dough on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Spread the meat mixture evenly on each oval, leaving a border around the edges.
- Fold the edges of the dough inward to create a boat shape. Brush the edges with the beaten egg.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until the crust is golden brown.
- Remove from the oven, let cool slightly, and serve warm.
