Ingredients
- All-purpose flour - 200 grams
- Butter (melted) - 50 grams
- Sugar - 50 grams
- Water - 100 ml
- Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
- Ground walnuts - 100 grams
- Ground cinnamon - 1/2 teaspoon
- Honey - 2 tablespoons
- Egg (beaten, for glaze) - 1
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, melted butter, sugar, salt, and water to form a smooth dough. Knead for about 5 minutes until elastic, then cover with a damp cloth and let it rest for 20 minutes.
- In another bowl, mix the ground walnuts, ground cinnamon, and honey until well combined. Set aside.
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Divide the rested dough into two equal pieces. Roll each piece into an oval shape, about 1/4 inch thick.
- Place half of the walnut mixture in the center of each oval, leaving a border around the edges. Fold the sides of the dough over the filling to create a boat shape, pinching the ends to seal.
- Brush the tops of the pastries with the beaten egg for a golden finish.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and crisp.
- Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly before serving.
