Ingredients

  • All-purpose flour - 200 grams
  • Butter (melted) - 50 grams
  • Sugar - 50 grams
  • Water - 100 ml
  • Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Ground walnuts - 100 grams
  • Ground cinnamon - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Honey - 2 tablespoons
  • Egg (beaten, for glaze) - 1

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, melted butter, sugar, salt, and water to form a smooth dough. Knead for about 5 minutes until elastic, then cover with a damp cloth and let it rest for 20 minutes.
  2. In another bowl, mix the ground walnuts, ground cinnamon, and honey until well combined. Set aside.
  3. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
  4. Divide the rested dough into two equal pieces. Roll each piece into an oval shape, about 1/4 inch thick.
  5. Place half of the walnut mixture in the center of each oval, leaving a border around the edges. Fold the sides of the dough over the filling to create a boat shape, pinching the ends to seal.
  6. Brush the tops of the pastries with the beaten egg for a golden finish.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and crisp.
  8. Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly before serving.
