Ingredients

  • Pide dough - 250 grams
  • Ground lamb - 150 grams
  • Ground beef - 150 grams
  • Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Tomato - 1 medium, diced
  • Green bell pepper - 1 small, diced
  • Red pepper flakes - 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Egg - 1, for egg wash

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 220°C (428°F).
  2. In a skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat and sauté the chopped onion and minced garlic until translucent.
  3. Add the ground lamb and beef to the skillet, breaking it up with a spoon. Cook until browned.
  4. Stir in the diced tomato, green bell pepper, red pepper flakes, cumin, salt, and black pepper. Cook for another 5 minutes until the vegetables are tender.
  5. Remove from heat and mix in the chopped parsley. Set aside to cool slightly.
  6. Roll out the pide dough into an oval shape about 1/2 cm thick and place it onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  7. Spoon the meat mixture onto the center of the dough, leaving the edges clear. Fold the edges of the dough over the filling to form a boat shape.
  8. Beat the egg and brush it over the edges of the pide for a golden finish.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
  10. Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
