- Fresh unsalted cheese (like mozzarella or ricotta) - 100 grams
- All-purpose flour - 50 grams
- Butter - 30 grams, melted
- Sugar - 50 grams
- Egg - 1 large
- Baking powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Water - 100 ml
- Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
- Vanilla extract - 1/2 teaspoon
- Pistachios - for garnish, crushed (optional)
Steps
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
- In a mixing bowl, combine the fresh cheese, flour, melted butter, sugar, egg, baking powder, and vanilla extract. Mix until a smooth dough forms.
- Grease a small baking dish with a bit of butter. Press half of the cheese mixture into the bottom of the dish evenly.
- In a saucepan, combine water, sugar, and lemon juice over medium heat. Stir until the sugar dissolves, then bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Spread the remaining cheese mixture over the first layer in the baking dish.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and immediately pour the syrup over the hot dessert.
- Let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with crushed pistachios if desired.
