Ingredients

  • All-purpose flour - 100 grams
  • Pekmez (grape molasses) - 50 grams
  • Unsalted butter - 40 grams (melted)
  • Baking powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Ground cinnamon - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - a pinch
  • Egg - 1 large
  • Chopped walnuts - 30 grams
  • Powdered sugar - for dusting (optional)

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, ground cinnamon, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the melted butter, pekmez, and egg until smooth.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a dough forms.
  5. Fold in the chopped walnuts until evenly distributed.
  6. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough and place them on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each cookie.
  7. Flatten each cookie slightly with the back of a spoon or your hand.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  9. Remove from the oven and allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  10. Dust with powdered sugar before serving, if desired.
