Ingredients

  • Ground beef or lamb - 200 grams
  • Mashed potatoes - 150 grams (about 1 medium potato)

  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Cumin - 1 teaspoon
  • Red pepper flakes - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon (for cooking)
  • Whole wheat buns - 2
  • Lettuce leaves - 2
  • Tomato - 1 medium, sliced
  • Cucumber - 1/2 medium, sliced

Steps

  1. Peel and boil the potato until tender, then mash it and set it aside.
  2. In a bowl, combine the ground meat, mashed potatoes, chopped onion, minced garlic, parsley, cumin, red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Mix the ingredients thoroughly until well combined, then form the mixture into two patties.
  4. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until browned and cooked through.
  5. While the patties are cooking, prepare the buns by toasting them lightly if desired.
  6. Assemble the burgers by placing a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each bun, followed by the cooked patty, sliced tomato, and cucumber.
  7. Top with the other half of the bun and serve immediately.
