Ingredients
- Potatoes - 300 grams
- Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Fresh parsley - 30 grams, chopped
- Fresh dill - 15 grams, chopped
- All-purpose flour - 50 grams
- Baking powder - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Cayenne pepper - 1/4 teaspoon (optional)
- Olive oil - for frying
Steps
- Peel and boil the potatoes in salted water until tender, about 15 minutes. Drain and let cool slightly.
- In a frying pan, heat a tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Sauté the chopped onion until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute, then remove from heat.
- In a large bowl, mash the boiled potatoes until smooth. Add the sautéed onion and garlic, chopped parsley, dill, flour, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper (if using). Mix until well combined.
- Form the mixture into patties, about 1.5 cm thick.
- Heat olive oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Fry the patties in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes on each side. Add more oil as needed.
- Remove the patties from the pan and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve warm.
