Ingredients

  • Manti (Turkish dumplings) - 200 grams
  • Long-grain rice - 150 grams
  • Ground lamb or beef - 100 grams
  • Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Vegetable or chicken broth - 400 ml
  • Tomato paste - 1 tablespoon
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Dried mint - 1 teaspoon
  • Paprika - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Fresh parsley - for garnish

Steps

  1. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat and sauté the chopped onion until soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.
  2. Add minced garlic and ground meat to the skillet, cooking until the meat is browned, about 7-10 minutes. Season with salt, black pepper, dried mint, and paprika.
  3. In a separate pot, bring the vegetable or chicken broth to a simmer. Add the rice and tomato paste, stirring well. Cook uncovered for about 15 minutes on low heat until the rice is tender and the liquid is absorbed.
  4. Meanwhile, boil water in a large pot and cook the manti according to package instructions, usually around 8-10 minutes until they float to the surface.
  5. Once the rice is cooked, fluff it with a fork and serve it on plates. Top with the cooked ground meat mixture and the manti.
  6. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
