  • Baking powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - a pinch
  • Chopped walnuts or pistachios - for topping
  • Cinnamon - for dusting

Steps

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the water and sugar over medium heat, stirring until the sugar completely dissolves.
  2. Add the butter and vanilla extract to the mixture, allowing the butter to melt.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix the corn flour, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Gradually add the corn flour mixture to the saucepan, stirring continuously to prevent lumps from forming.
  5. Continue to cook the mixture on low heat, stirring frequently, until it thickens and pulls away from the sides of the pan (about 10-15 minutes).
  6. Once thickened, pour the mixture into a greased small dish or mold and smooth the top.
  7. Allow it to cool at room temperature for about 10 minutes, then refrigerate for another 10 minutes to set.
  8. Cut into squares or slices, serve warm or chilled, and top with chopped nuts and a dusting of cinnamon.
