Steps
- In a medium saucepan, combine the water and sugar over medium heat, stirring until the sugar completely dissolves.
- Add the butter and vanilla extract to the mixture, allowing the butter to melt.
- In a separate bowl, mix the corn flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the corn flour mixture to the saucepan, stirring continuously to prevent lumps from forming.
- Continue to cook the mixture on low heat, stirring frequently, until it thickens and pulls away from the sides of the pan (about 10-15 minutes).
- Once thickened, pour the mixture into a greased small dish or mold and smooth the top.
- Allow it to cool at room temperature for about 10 minutes, then refrigerate for another 10 minutes to set.
- Cut into squares or slices, serve warm or chilled, and top with chopped nuts and a dusting of cinnamon.
