- Instant yeast - 5 grams
- Sugar - 10 grams
- Salt - 1 gram
- Warm water - 75 milliliters
- Vegetable oil - for frying
- Water - 200 milliliters (for syrup)
- Granulated sugar - 150 grams (for syrup)
- Lemon juice - 15 milliliters (for syrup)
- Ground cinnamon - 1 gram (optional, for garnish)
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, instant yeast, sugar, and salt.
- Gradually add warm water to the dry ingredients, mixing until a smooth and slightly sticky dough forms.
- Cover the bowl with a clean cloth and let the dough rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes, or until doubled in size.
- While the dough is rising, prepare the syrup by combining water, granulated sugar, and lemon juice in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for 10 minutes. Remove from heat and let it cool.
- Once the dough has risen, heat vegetable oil in a deep pan over medium heat.
- Use a spoon to scoop small amounts of dough and carefully drop them into the hot oil, frying until golden brown on all sides (about 2-3 minutes).
- Remove the fried dough balls and drain them on paper towels.
- Dip the hot lokma into the cooled syrup for a few seconds, then place them on a serving plate.
- Optionally, sprinkle with ground cinnamon before serving.
