Ingredients

  • All-purpose flour - 200 grams
  • Warm water - 120 ml
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Active dry yeast - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Ground beef or lamb (kosher) - 150 grams
  • Onion, finely chopped - 1 small
  • Garlic, minced - 1 clove
  • Tomato paste - 1 tablespoon
  • Red bell pepper, finely chopped - 1/2
  • Parsley, finely chopped - 2 tablespoons
  • Cumin - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Paprika - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon

Steps

  1. In a bowl, mix the warm water with yeast and let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a separate bowl, combine flour and salt, then pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil.
  3. Knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes until smooth, then cover it with a damp cloth and let it rise in a warm place for 30 minutes.
  4. In a skillet over medium heat, sauté the chopped onion and garlic until translucent.
  5. Add the ground meat to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks.
  6. Stir in the tomato paste, red bell pepper, parsley, cumin, paprika, and black pepper. Cook for an additional 5 minutes, then remove from heat and add lemon juice.
  7. Preheat your oven to 220°C (428°F).
  8. Once the dough has risen, divide it into two equal portions and roll each into a thin round shape on a floured surface.
  9. Place the rolled-out dough on a baking sheet, then spread a generous amount of the meat mixture evenly over the top.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are crispy and the topping is cooked through.
  11. Remove from the oven, let it cool slightly, then slice and serve warm.
