- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Active dry yeast - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Ground beef or lamb (kosher) - 150 grams
- Onion, finely chopped - 1 small
- Garlic, minced - 1 clove
- Tomato paste - 1 tablespoon
- Red bell pepper, finely chopped - 1/2
- Parsley, finely chopped - 2 tablespoons
- Cumin - 1/2 teaspoon
- Paprika - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
Steps
- In a bowl, mix the warm water with yeast and let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
- In a separate bowl, combine flour and salt, then pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil.
- Knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes until smooth, then cover it with a damp cloth and let it rise in a warm place for 30 minutes.
- In a skillet over medium heat, sauté the chopped onion and garlic until translucent.
- Add the ground meat to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks.
- Stir in the tomato paste, red bell pepper, parsley, cumin, paprika, and black pepper. Cook for an additional 5 minutes, then remove from heat and add lemon juice.
- Preheat your oven to 220°C (428°F).
- Once the dough has risen, divide it into two equal portions and roll each into a thin round shape on a floured surface.
- Place the rolled-out dough on a baking sheet, then spread a generous amount of the meat mixture evenly over the top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are crispy and the topping is cooked through.
- Remove from the oven, let it cool slightly, then slice and serve warm.
