Ingredients

  • Ground lamb or beef - 250 grams
  • Onion - 1 small, finely chopped
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Red bell pepper - 1, finely chopped
  • Tomato paste - 1 tablespoon
  • Paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Whole wheat burger buns - 2
  • Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Greek yogurt - 100 grams
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Cucumber - 1 small, diced
  • Tomato - 1 small, sliced
  • Lettuce leaves - 2

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground lamb or beef with the chopped onion, minced garlic, red bell pepper, tomato paste, paprika, cumin, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are combined.
  2. Form the mixture into two equal-sized patties and set aside.
  3. Preheat a grill or skillet over medium heat and cook the patties for about 5-7 minutes on each side or until fully cooked through.
  4. While the patties are cooking, prepare the yogurt sauce by mixing Greek yogurt with lemon juice and a pinch of salt in a small bowl.
  5. Toast the whole wheat burger buns on the grill or skillet until lightly crispy.
  6. To assemble the burgers, spread a spoonful of the yogurt sauce on the bottom half of each bun, place the cooked patty on top, and add lettuce, sliced tomato, and diced cucumber.
  7. Top with chopped parsley and finish with the top half of the bun. Serve immediately.
