- Lamb shoulder - 500 grams
- Onion - 1 large, chopped
- Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
- Carrot - 1 medium, diced
- Tomato - 1 large, diced
- Potato - 1 medium, diced
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Yogurt - 100 grams, for serving
- Turmeric powder - 1 teaspoon
- Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Water - 500 milliliters
- Fresh parsley - for garnish
Steps
- Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add chopped onions and sauté until translucent.
- Add minced garlic and sauté for an additional minute until fragrant.
- Incorporate diced lamb shoulder, cooking until browned on all sides.
- Stir in the diced carrot, tomato, and potato, allowing to cook for a few minutes.
- Add turmeric, cumin, black pepper, and salt to the pot, mixing well to coat the meat and vegetables.
- Pour in the water and bring to a boil. Once boiling, reduce heat to low and cover the pot.
- Let the mixture simmer for about 1.5 hours, or until the lamb is tender and easily falls apart.
- Once cooked, remove from heat and let it rest for 10 minutes.
- Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley and a dollop of yogurt on the side.
