Ingredients

  • Ground lamb - 300 grams
  • Medium-sized potatoes - 2 (about 300 grams each)
  • Red onion - 1 small, finely chopped
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Cumin - 1 teaspoon
  • Paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - ½ teaspoon
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Tomato - 1, diced
  • Cucumber - 1, diced
  • Yogurt - 100 grams
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Chili sauce - to taste

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
  2. Wash the potatoes thoroughly and prick them with a fork several times. Rub them with a little olive oil and sprinkle with salt. Bake in the preheated oven for about 45 minutes or until tender.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground lamb, chopped red onion, minced garlic, parsley, cumin, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  4. Shape the lamb mixture into medium-sized meatballs, about 5 cm in diameter.
  5. Heat a grill pan or BBQ over medium heat and add a little olive oil. Grill the meatballs for about 8-10 minutes, turning occasionally until they are browned and cooked through.
  6. Once the potatoes are done baking, remove them from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes. Cut them open lengthwise and fluff the insides with a fork.
  7. Top each potato with the grilled lamb meatballs, diced tomatoes, cucumbers, a dollop of yogurt, a drizzle of lemon juice, and chili sauce to taste.
  8. Serve immediately and enjoy your Kuzu Kuzu Kumpir Köfte!
