Ingredients

  • Dried figs - 200 grams
  • Walnuts - 50 grams
  • Honey - 2 tablespoons
  • Water - 100 ml
  • Cinnamon powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Unsweetened cocoa powder - 1 tablespoon (optional)

Steps

  1. Rinse the dried figs under cold water to remove any dirt, then chop them into small pieces.
  2. In a saucepan, combine the chopped figs, water, and honey over medium heat, stirring until the mixture softens and becomes a thick paste (about 10 minutes).
  3. While the fig mixture cooks, roughly chop the walnuts and set them aside.
  4. Once the fig mixture has thickened, remove it from heat and stir in the chopped walnuts, cinnamon powder, and cocoa powder (if using).
  5. Transfer the mixture into a small, greased container or mold, pressing it down to compact it.
  6. Allow the helva to cool completely at room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 1 hour to set.
  7. Once set, cut into squares or rectangles and serve chilled or at room temperature.
