Ingredients
- Dried figs - 200 grams
- Walnuts - 50 grams
- Honey - 2 tablespoons
- Water - 100 ml
- Cinnamon powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Unsweetened cocoa powder - 1 tablespoon (optional)
Steps
- Rinse the dried figs under cold water to remove any dirt, then chop them into small pieces.
- In a saucepan, combine the chopped figs, water, and honey over medium heat, stirring until the mixture softens and becomes a thick paste (about 10 minutes).
- While the fig mixture cooks, roughly chop the walnuts and set them aside.
- Once the fig mixture has thickened, remove it from heat and stir in the chopped walnuts, cinnamon powder, and cocoa powder (if using).
- Transfer the mixture into a small, greased container or mold, pressing it down to compact it.
- Allow the helva to cool completely at room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 1 hour to set.
- Once set, cut into squares or rectangles and serve chilled or at room temperature.
