Ingredients
- Phyllo dough - 100 grams
- Unsalted butter - 50 grams, melted
- Pistachios, finely chopped - 70 grams
- Sugar - 50 grams
- Water - 100 ml
- Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
- Ground cinnamon - 1/2 teaspoon
- Honey - 1 tablespoon
Steps
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
- In a small saucepan, combine water, sugar, honey, and vanilla extract. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes until slightly thickened. Set aside to cool.
- Melt the unsalted butter in a microwave or small saucepan.
- Take one sheet of phyllo dough and brush it with melted butter. Place another sheet on top and brush it again. Repeat this process until you have 5 layers of phyllo.
- Spread half of the chopped pistachios evenly over the phyllo layers.
- Cover the pistachios with another 5 layers of buttered phyllo dough, repeating the same layering method as before.
- Once layered, sprinkle the remaining pistachios on top and fold the edges of the phyllo over the filling to create a rectangular shape.
- Using a sharp knife, cut the dessert into squares or diamond shapes.
- Place the dessert in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and immediately pour the cooled syrup over the hot dessert. Allow it to soak for at least 10 minutes before serving.
